Vann immigrated to the U.S. from Cambodia in 1980 with his mom and sister, and watched his mom work tirelessly to make a living. Determined to follow his dreams, Vann earned a business degree in 1996 and worked in banking as a stepping stone toward his true passion—owning a hair salon. Always making a statement with his own hair, he wanted to share that confidence with others, so he pursued cosmetology, completing his training at Graham Webb International Hair Academy in 2004.

 

Vann spent several years honing his skills as a stylist and manager, rising to lead stylist and managing multiple locations for a prominent beauty company on the East Coast. In 2009, he moved to Philadelphia and by 2018, alongside his partner Rob, Vann opened Ou Salon in Fairmount, the neighborhood they call home. His vision for Ou Salon was to build a team of talented artists who bring style, confidence, and personal expression to life for each client—something his mom would be proud of.

 

As a Master Stylist and accomplished Salon Manager, Vann’s advanced training in color and cut, artistic eye, and passion for style inspire his clients and team while ensuring every guest receives exceptional care.

 

When not at the salon, Vann sings with the Philadelphia Gay Men’s Chorus and is the influence behind the salon’s killer playlist. He also enjoys cooking and traveling the world with friends and family.
